FOR SUPPORTERS

WILL YOU HELP US TO HELP YOUNG CHURCHES IN THE UK?

We’re inviting you to join with us in an exciting and important opportunity to support the ministry of young churches in the UK.

THE NEED

There are hundreds of young churches in the UK meeting in hired spaces each week.  Often those hire arrangements can be terminated at a moment’s notice.  These churches don’t have spaces to use for midweek ministry.  This leaves ministries vulnerable and constrained.

THE AQUILA MODEL

The Aquila Church Fund exists to help churches such as these to acquire a building, and to make a home in their communities:  a gathering place for the church family and a place of hospitality to guests.

Aquila stands in the gap.  When a suitable building becomes available, Aquila purchases the property, securing it for ministry use until the church can repurchase it from Aquila.  This releases funds for Aquila to help the next church.

This recycled funding model means that money donated to Aquila to help a church today will be used again and again to assist other churches for years to come.

We have a busy pipeline of projects taking shape, and new churches approach us every week seeking our help.

THE DIFFERENCE WE MAKE

Grace Church Dundee is one of the churches Aquila has helped.  This is what they say about the difference it has made to have a building of their own:

When Grace Church met in rental spaces, we never established a true presence in the city. It often meant we were essentially parachuting into a venue one day a week and having very little ongoing connection to the area beyond the Sunday. Our building, sitting at a major intersection, gives us a clear presence in our community.

We have noticed that being in a building which is clearly a church building has actually been very positive for those who are unchurched or searching. We have seen more attendance and engagement from these groups than ever before when we were based in mixed-use premises. Our attendance has risen, and more local residents have begun joining us. The financial commitment and responsibility that taking on the building has required of our members has been good in encouraging more engagement, maturity and commitment from them.
