ABOUT THE FOUNDATION

WHY AQUILA EXISTS

Healthy church plants rely on funding for three essentials: Training for church leaders, ministry expenses and a place to gather.

Established organisations and funds already provide valuable support towards training and initial ministry costs, but the third leg of the stool is often missing.

The Aquila Foundation advances the gospel in the United Kingdom by helping young churches secure permanent homes in their communities.

OUR STRUCTURE

The Aquila Foundation is a not-for-profit limited company and an incorporated Scottish Charity which has as its principal objective the advancement of the Christian religion. It does this through the provision of resources to Christian churches and fellowships in the United Kingdom, which adhere to the Basis of Faith and which engage in serving God through worship, discipling, pastoral care and outreach.

Aquila is regulated by the Office of the Scottish Charities Regulator and Companies House Scotland and its annual accounts (which are independently examined) are published.

OUR PEOPLE

Aquila is governed and managed by a board of eight directors (who are also its charity trustees) - Steve Wright, David Vardy, David Laing, Derek Nash, Stephen Percival, and Donald Campbell (all UK) and Blake Sullivan and Blake Schwarz (both USA).

STEVE WRIGHT - CEO

Steve joined Aquila as CEO in 2026 with 25 years’ experience across property, legal services and church leadership.  He trained and qualified as a solicitor at a City firm in London and then joined one of the UK’s best-known retailers for nine years as in-house counsel.  Steve and his family now live in Cambridge, where he worked for six years helping to lead Eden Baptist Church.  More recently, Steve has set up a practice advising churches on property, he has served as a non-executive director and trustee, and has helped to lead a Christian law firm.  In his spare time he plays the guitar.
